Ana Radovanovic

Keynote

Dr. Ana Radovanovic is a Senior Staff Research Scientist and Technical Lead for Energy Analytics and Carbon-Aware Computing at Google, where she leads pioneering work at the intersection of large-scale computing infrastructure and clean energy systems. Her research focuses on developing algorithms and optimization models that intelligently shift computing workloads across time and geography to better align data center energy demand with the availability of renewable resources such as wind and solar power.

Dr. Radovanovic earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 2005. She began her career as a Research Staff Member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, specializing in stochastic modeling, analysis, and control. Since joining Google in 2008, she has contributed to a wide range of foundational systems research, including massive-scale job scheduling, traffic characterization, and risk-aware pricing.

Since 2013, Dr. Radovanovic has focused her work on decarbonizing the electricity grid through carbon-aware computing. She spearheaded the deployment of Google’s Carbon-Intelligent Compute Management platform, which enables non-urgent computing tasks—such as YouTube video processing and Google Photos feature generation—to automatically shift to times when renewable energy is most abundant.

Widely recognized as a research entrepreneur, Dr. Radovanovic is known for bridging the gap between deep computer infrastructure and electrical grid operations. Under her leadership, Google’s Carbon-Aware Computing team was named a finalist for the prestigious Franz Edelman Award, recognizing outstanding achievements in advanced analytics, operations research, and management science.

Through her work, Dr. Radovanovic continues to help shape a more sustainable future for global computing and energy systems.
