Meaningful AI in Industry: Creating Value in a Physical World
AI’s true potential lies not in digital models alone, but in the physical world — where energy flows, materials are transformed, and real value is created. Across manufacturing, construction, energy, and logistics, AI is already reshaping how we sense, optimize, and act. This keynote explores the rise of physical AI: systems that integrate data, sensors, networks, robotics, and human expertise to deliver measurable outcomes in industry.
Drawing on real-world implementations from Savantic’s work with Swedish and global companies, we will examine how AI enhances production efficiency, reduces waste, and accelerates innovation — today. Beyond the technology, we’ll discuss how to align AI initiatives with business strategy, workforce development, and sustainability goals to create both economic and societal impact.
Sweden has the talent, data, and industrial heritage to lead this transformation — but only if we act boldly. The future of AI is not just autonomous; it is applied, measurable, and profoundly human in purpose.
Bio
Marcus Weiland is an accomplished AI expert and business leader with broad experience in leadership, consulting, and digital transformation. Since 2018, he has served as Vice VD and Deputy MD at Savantic AB, where he also sits on the Board and is responsible for Sales and Communication. He is the founder of Curiative AB, offering AI consulting services, and Chairman of the Board at Viatel Sweden AB. Marcus is also a Board Member at Bee Analytics and contributes to the European DIGITAL SME Alliance’s Focus Group on Artificial Intelligence, collaborating with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre on AI initiatives.
Passionate about strengthening Sweden’s AI competence, Marcus lectures, teaches, and inspires on topics including artificial intelligence, data-driven practices, and digital strategies. He is the founder of Savantic Institute and the host of the podcast En AI till Kaffet!, where he explores how AI connects to everyday life.
Earlier in his career, Marcus held senior roles at Samtrafiken i Sverige AB, including Chief Strategy Officer. He holds an Executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics and an MSc in Computer Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, complemented by studies at Nanzan University and Stockholm University.
